Sir Topham Hatt, also known as The Fat Controller, is the director of the North Western Railway on the Island of Sodor in the Thomas & Friends franchise. He is a stern but fair human manager who ensures that his engines remain "really useful" and run on time. He is recognizable by his formal morning dress, including a black tailcoat, a yellow or cream waistcoat, and a signature black top hat.
