The Trabant is a series of compact automobiles produced from 1957 to 1991 by the East German manufacturer VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. Characterized by its Duroplast body panels and two-stroke engine, the vehicle became a primary means of transport in the German Democratic Republic. It is widely recognized as a cultural icon of the Cold War era and a symbol of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
