#The Elf on the Shelf

The Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas tradition centered around a Scout Elf sent by Santa Claus to homes to observe children's behavior during the holiday season. Each night, the elf flies to the North Pole to report to Santa and returns to a new, often playful, position in the home before the children wake. The tradition originated with a 2005 children's book, "The Elf on the Shelf: A Christmas Tradition," which comes packaged with a toy elf.
