#The Dark Lord Sauron

The Dark Lord Sauron is the primary antagonist in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, notably featured in *The Lord of the Rings*, *The Hobbit*, and *The Silmarillion*. Originally known as Mairon, he is a powerful Maia who became the chief lieutenant of the first Dark Lord, Morgoth. Sauron is identified as the "Necromancer" in *The Hobbit* and is the eponymous "Lord of the Rings" due to his forging of the One Ring to dominate Middle-earth. He is often associated with the symbol of the Lidless Eye, representing his ever-watchful and malevolent presence.
