#THE LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW

"The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is a classic American gothic short story written by Washington Irving, first published in 1820 as part of his collection "The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Gent." The narrative is set in the secluded Dutch settlement of Sleepy Hollow, New York, and centers on the superstitious schoolmaster Ichabod Crane, his rivalry with Brom Bones for the affection of Katrina Van Tassel, and his terrifying encounter with the legendary Headless Horseman. The story has been widely adapted into various media, including the 1949 animated film "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad" and the 1999 live-action film "Sleepy Hollow."
