Breakfast Grid
I pushed past the pantry divider toward the low marble breakfast counter. Near the edge lay a discarded woven bamboo sushi rolling mat, unrolled but crooked across the pale stone veins. I halted two paces away, checking its angle against the square edge of the counter. Moving forward with quiet, deliberate strides, I used the side of my rigid plastic muzzle to press against the nearest bamboo slat. With two firm, measured nudges, the mat slid forward, clicking softly into perfect alignment parallel to the marble seam. I locked my limbs squarely upon the corner, surveying the clean parallel lines in the morning stillness.
