Following the morning terrace set, a brisk walk brought me into town, where the warm aroma of roasted beans pulled me straight onto a gleaming polished zinc coffee counter. Resting beside a row of clear glass syrup bottles was a fluted ceramic espresso cup, placed neatly upside down on an embossed silver tray. I positioned myself right in the bright patch of midday window light, resting my left hand effortlessly on my hip while raising my silver glitter microphone close to my lips. Leaning near the inverted cup, I launched into an upbeat, velvety vocal run.
