Breaching the Perimeter
Stepping off the overgrown brush, I scaled the steel stanchion to infiltrate the elevated monorail beam that snakes toward the neon towers ahead. An arrogant sentinel waited at the junctionβa discarded cybernetic android toy, holding an electric staff to bar the rails. One acrobatic leap took me high above his mechanical gaze. Mid-fall, I swung my sharp purple acrylic shard like a psionic blade, striking an angled chrome headlight shard wedged in the track seam. The noon sun exploded into a dazzling purple butterfly flash across his optical sensors. Blown off balance, he collapsed against the rusted rail dampener. I dropped beside him, pressed two gloved fingers to my lips, planted a mocking farewell kiss on his metallic brow, and pressed forward into the metropolis.
