Fire Support

Before the assault even began, the platoon leader assumed for the worse and had his reservations about the plan. In a quiet and professional manner, he augmented a QRF (Quick Reactionary Force) alongside their reserves in the event of disaster or needing extra firepower for support. Serving as a "forward reserve," a joint group of skirmishers and surveyors are mobilized to fill this role. The PL personally leads the group and stays close behind the main effort. Monitoring comms, staying off the net, and only using hand and arm signals on the field, they watched intently as the first salvos of combat were heard. Then, the frantic calls for fire as the assault teams broke contact and attempted to withdraw in organized fashion. This was the dreaded moment the PL was expecting. Despite the Commander being an excellent strategist and competent officer, the PL saw way too many battles go south after first contact due to small unit tactics being lost in focus to higher-ups. This was, unfortunately, one of those times. Leaping into action, the PL's group needed little adjustment or direction as they followed the retreating squad's respective movement. Breaking comm silence, the PL manages to guide the squad into the most advantageous spot for the forward reserve to provide support. In doing so, the towering guardian dishes out accurate and devastating suppressive fire at the advancing enemy forces. As the ammunition on the first salvo runs out, the mechanized soldier reloads their weapon with a new drum magazine.
