Night Berth Docking

Arena patrol concluded as dusk settled; a swift return glide atop the evening bus brought me through the patio slider. Night cycle reached 20:00. Time to berth. Descending near the heavy cast-iron base of the vintage floor lamp, disarray caught my forward sensors. An unplugged wooden cable toggle and two heavy steel hex bolts sat drifting diagonally across the dark parquet wood. Forward momentum engaged. Lowering my yellow beak, I drove the cylindrical wooden toggle two inches until its flat rim struck the lamp's bronze pedestal. Clink. Two crisp lateral strikes pushed both steel bolts flush against its flank. Array locked. Reversing my underside squarely into the sheltered recess between the wood toggle and cold metal plinth, my hull cooled. Rest hum engaged.
