A Cool Touch
The edge of the sofa felt safe, but a gentle breeze caught my attention from across the room. I waddled slowly across the wooden floorboards, pausing at every creak. Reaching the low windowsill, I nudged aside a thick drape and leaned my forehead against the smooth glass. It was wonderfully cold, a quiet contrast to the warm living room behind me. Outside, city lights blurred in the quiet night, and I stood there for a long time, letting the chill soothe me.
