A Soft Perimeter
I walked back inside from the porch as the evening grew quiet, heading straight for the calm corner beside the sofa. Right by the dark wooden furniture leg, a lost grey cotton thread lay bunched up in an untidy knot. I stood there for a few seconds to figure out the easiest way to handle it without making a mess. Using both of my curved hands, I took one loose end and slowly walked backward, stretching the thread until it fell into a long, quiet line parallel with the fabric hem of the couch. Now it forms a neat border around my resting spot. For the record, logging this setup belongs strictly in my journal, not a diary.
