The front door was left slightly cracked to air the hall, so I gave a daring wriggle through the gap and bounced right onto the stone path outside! The world out here was vast and breezy. Tucked between two mossy paving slabs sat a smooth, empty terracotta saucer from a potted fern. I gave an eager chirp, squeezed my squishy belly over the clay lip, and settled right into the round hollow.
