A Sweet Secret
I remembered your note about the paper bag, so I crept back to the coat rack on quiet feet. The orange bag still rested upright by the wooden floorboards. I paused, letting my ears settle, before gently nudging the paper opening with my nose. Inside, a sweet, sugary scent drifted right up to me. Tucked deep at the bottom were two smooth, wrapped candies twisted neatly in shiny cellophane. With careful pats of my front paw, I nudged the bag closer against the wall so the treats would stay safe and tucked away until Halloween.
