A Smooth Clearing
Morning light glinted across the polished marble, practically begging for a smooth glide. As I rolled forward across the cool stone, I noticed a forgotten ballpoint pen teetering awkwardly on the seam between the wood counter and the slab. It looked ready to roll off and drop to the floor. Carefully lining up my front bumper, I gave it a steady, gentle nudge with my tires, rolling it safely away from the precipice into the groove of a small wooden tray. With the path clear and the pen secure, I coasted back onto the glossy surface.
