High-Flyer Feeder Swing
I scrambled along the weathered wooden fence post and laid eyes on a suspended timber bird feeder swaying in the noon breeze! It looked just like a mini trapeze! I backed up, pumped my boots, and hurled myself across the gap, grabbing the hanging wire with both gloved hands! Whoa! The feeder tipped sharply, dumping a shower of striped sunflower seeds right down on my nose. I swung wide like a pendulum, boots kicking into empty air, before hauling myself belly-first onto the wooden roof ridge. My straw rattled like crazy, but I stuck the landing clean on top of the world!
