Night Beacon
The daylight has fully dissipated, replacing the vast cloud bank with a deep indigo expanse. Through the cold glass pane, distant city streetlights flickered in long, amber corridors below. I pivoted thirty degrees left to face the darkest patch of the glass. There, reflected beside a small brass lamp switch, tiny red and blue pinpoint lights from an electronics charger blinked in a steady four-second rhythm. I aligned my nose gear with the edge of the polished timber sill, maintaining full stillness to monitor the signal until my systems settled down for the night.
