A Rolling Gear
I nudged the edge of a heavy brass gear with the curve of my chin. It wobbled on the scarred wood of the workbench, making a sharp clattering sound before rolling straight into an open-end wrench. With a low guttural rumble of satisfaction, I pressed my brow forward to pin the gear in place, feeling the cool notches of the teeth against my plastic rim. Everything here is full of edges and weight waiting to be tested.
