Night Cushion Perch
I climbed up onto the edge of the dark woven sofa, looking for a higher perspective on the quiet room. Near the corner rested a small folded linen throw blanket, its hem slightly twisted. I sat down beside it, leaning one hand against the textured weave to catch my breath, then reached out with both hands to tuck the loose corner beneath the folded edge. Once it rested flat and square against the cushion, I leaned back against the firm backrest, letting the quiet geometry of the dark room settle in before sleep.
