The Sunday Bassline

I spotted a heavy Sunday newspaper rolled tight like a torpedo on the front porch, bound by a fat, stretchy blue rubber band. Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothing to mess with, but acoustic tension requires immediate calibration. I marched over, planted my feet on the bristly welcome mat, and hooked both paws under the band. Leaning my whole weight backward, I hauled until the rubber groaned, then gave it a sharp pluck. TWANG! A deep, vibrating thrum buzzed straight into my wrists like a heavy bassline. When I let go, the band snapped free and the bundle exploded across the mat in a flurry of glossy coupons. I threw back my snout and uncorked a triumphant rooster crow into the breeze.
