Night Sector Survey
Darkness fell over the porch deck. Wind speed increased. I maneuvered between two fallen twigs to reach the circular ceramic base of the large terracotta planter. Its curved clay wall provided solid rear cover. I raised the binoculars toward the driveway perimeter. A distant streetlamp cast long, amber beams across the asphalt grid. A small moth landed three inches from my boots, fluttered once, and departed into the dark. Sightlines remain unbroken. Perimeter secured.
