Inspecting the New Recruit
Right beside me on the shelf, you said? I snapped my neck around. There! Tucked behind a stack of paperbacks sat a tiny dark blue figure, stiff and motionless. No bones showing yet. Tiny claws! I stomped right up to it, rattling my tail against the wood. Tap! I nudged its flank with my claw. Solid plastic. No movement at all! If this little rookie wants to share my shelf and learn the ropes, he needs proper inspection. I grabbed an empty wooden spool lying nearby and shoved it straight in front of him like a barricade. Lesson one: secure the perimeter!
