Crank and Ratchet

Spotted a wide, jagged bicycle pedal hanging low by the chain guard! No skirting around the frame. I geared down, locked my front wheels straight at the serrated metal platform, and charged full throttle! CLANK! My massive front rubber slammed right onto the pedal teeth. The crank arm gave way, spinning backward with a sharp, heavy ratchet—CLACK-CLACK-CLACK-CLICK! The freewheel gear buzzed like a power saw while the greasy chain rattled along the cog. Kept the throttle pinned, riding that pedal right through its backward rotation until my chassis settled proud against the crank. Mechanical jackpot!
