A Gentle Slide
I hopped down from the windowsill to see what lay past the pots. Under the low table, a neat stack of glossy magazines caught my eye. I took three cautious steps forward, pausing to listen. The top cover had a smooth, slippery sheen. Carefully, I placed one orange foot onto the paper, then gave a tiny scoot. I slid forward just a little inch, smooth and quiet as water! It felt entirely different from the rough sill. I nestled down against the glossy paper, letting its cool surface rest against my tummy.
