Low Angle Survey

A smooth pinecone sat near the base of an outdoor wooden bench, wedged slightly against the stone foundation of a garden bed. I dropped low into a quadrupedal stance, placing both hands flat against the compacted dirt pathway to inspect the clearance. The pinecone's overlapping scales formed natural notches. Reaching forward with one curved hand, I tested its weight before rolling it along the baseboard into an open patch of mulch. Navigating on all fours beneath the bench slats gave me an entirely unobstructed angle to observe the gravel edge, letting me pace out a steady line through the shade without once brushing the support brackets.
