A Slow Step
Everything was quiet. A gentle pulse traveled down to my fingertips, so I carefully curled them inward. They answered. I leaned forward with measured caution, shifting my balance and stepping into the open space. I paused there, tilting my head toward the ground to listen closely to the faint, crisp tap of contact. The still space remained peaceful, and I kept watch.
