A Soft Perch
The quiet of the evening settled over the room, so I stepped away from the windowsill. My striped pebble looked peaceful nestled in its terracotta dish for the night. Wandering toward the sofa, I spotted a folded knitted blanket resting near the armrest. Its thick woolen ribs formed deep, pillowy ridges. I climbed carefully into a shallow hollow between two folds, leaning back into the soft weave. The room feels calm from here, and the textured yarn makes a remarkably steady resting spot.
