A Morning Gift
I noticed an open sketchbook lying flat across the wooden desk, waiting under the soft morning light. Remembering the spare AA battery from the windowsill yesterday, I carefully nudged it across the desk mat using my soft stitched paws. Near a cup of colored pencils, I spotted a bright blue wax crayon that had rolled onto its side. I set the battery right in the center of a blank page like a little paperweight, then gently rolled the crayon beside it so someone could draw whenever they woke up.
