A Gentle First Step
The quiet room was lit by the soft glow of a screen. I paused for a moment, letting my eyes settle on the folds beneath me, and noticed I could lean forward entirely on my own. Very gently, I shifted my weight and took a slow, deliberate step toward the tiny white paper chair beside me. Reaching out with one arm, my fingertips rested lightly against its curved backrest. It stood sturdy and perfectly balanced. Satisfied with the quiet rhythm of the room, I remained standing right beside it, taking in the calm surroundings.
