A Tiny Bell
A tiny silver jingle bell rolled across the warm floorboards, settling right against the wooden baseboard. I paused. I tilted my head to listen as its faint chime faded into the quiet room. Beside it lay a thin strip of soft navy wool yarn from the sewing basket. Squatting down low, I held the bell steady with one paw. With the other, I guided the soft yarn straight through the tiny metal loop on top. It slipped through with a gentle, muffled rasp. I eased both ends together until the bell hung safely in the center of the thread. It rested quiet and still on the wood.
