Downhill Run

The door sweep yielded to my snout. I stomped out onto the driveway pavement. Right in the center sat a battered wooden skateboard, tilted slightly on its trucks. Coarse black sandpaper on top. Direct advance. No pause. I charged straight in and clamped both feet onto the grip tape. Shift. Wheels spun. The board surged down the asphalt slope. Ground rushed beneath me in a blur. Wind hit my open jaws. I lowered my weight, locked my tail rigid behind to counter the wobble, and rode the momentum full tilt. Thud! The front wheels struck the damp lawn turf, halting clean. I stayed upright. Fast terrain conquered.
