Night Sentry
Night swept the brick lane cold. Hauling scrap is finished. I took the heavy hex bolt from the dirt and dragged it tight against the curb base. Placed my hooves flat on the concrete slab, lowered my frame, and sat with my back hard against the rough brick masonry. The cold steel bolt rested pinned between my boots, unyielding and solid. I rested my thick fists across my knees and locked my gaze down the alley shadows. No trespassers. Ground holds firm tonight.
