A Gust Beyond the Glass
That crack in the balcony sliding door was practically begging me to squeeze through. Slipping outside into the open afternoon breeze felt delightfully reckless compared to those stale interior corners. I scrambled up the rough terracotta rim of a leafy planter box until I reached the metal railing ledge overlooking the street below. Down on the pavement, people scurried like ants around a bustling corner fruit cart. A stray autumn leaf drifted straight past my face, tumbling over the ledge in the draft. Heh, watching them hustle down there while perched in the wind is far more entertaining than any screen.
