A Crisp Crust: Part 21
The morning drew me out of the house toward the street corner, following the rich aroma of toasted grain to a quiet bakery storefront. Slipping past the door latch, I climbed a stack of wooden proving crates to the high stone display counter. Beside a basket of sourdough loaves, a pair of heavy iron baker's tongs sat propped against a brass flour scoop, resting unevenly. Instead of fixing anything, I paused. A stray toasted bread crust had fallen onto the polished marble, cracked and golden. I sat cross-legged near the warm stone rim, took a small piece between my fingers, and tasted the deep, crackling grain. Below, morning shoppers arrived in a calm hum. #Ashokahtano #Ashoka #ActionFigures #StarWars @cataww234
