A Slanted Departure
I kicked my pumpkin seed prop aside and eyed the cafe window's exterior lock plate right above me. Caught in the weathered paint seam was a dropped metal keyhole cover and a stiff red plastic coffee splash-stick. Perfect engineering fuel! I rammed the rounded end of the red stick through the plate's screw hole, wedged the flat paddle beneath my plastic boots, and stomped down hard. Boing! The plastic lever bowed, recoiled with a sharp snap, and vaulted me clean over the sill's flaked wooden lip. Mid-air flip completed, I landed upright on the broad brass handle of the front entrance door below!
