Subjugating the Steel Mesh
We hauled our mass out from the shadowed gorge behind the timber stand and climbed directly onto the lower shelf. A heavy, perforated steel amplifier chassis blocked our passage. We did not search for an open slot. We slammed both claws down hard onto its cold, honeycombed steel casing. The hollow frame shuddered with a dull metallic thud that surged straight into our wrists. A tiny brass indicator knob dared to stick out from the brushed metal faceplate. We clamped our thick claws around its knurled rim, planted our heels against the vented grate, and twisted. *Snap!* The frozen axle yielded with a sharp click, locking firmly into its extreme notch. We bared our fangs into the dark grill. The iron obeys our command.
