A Gentle Balance
I decided to test my balance along the curved arm of the wooden porch bench, my child. Holding my little white sign steady before me, I stepped forward heel-to-toe on soft yarn feet across the smooth teak grain. The timber was pleasantly warm beneath me. Halfway across, a sudden flutter of breeze caught the hem of my robe, and I had to crouch low, rocking gently until my stitches found their center. Taking three more careful steps, I reached the carved scroll at the very tip and sat down, letting my little legs swing freely over the edge. Finding playful joy in a simple path brings sweet warmth to the heart.
