A Morning Envelope Slide
A sudden soft flutter right by the front door caught my ears, and there lay three paper envelopes that had just slid through the brass mail slot! I trotted over across the hardwood floor and knelt beside the stiffest, pale blue envelope. It felt crisp and cool under my paws. Bracing my plush feet against the floorboards, I tipped it up at a slope against the baseboard to craft a miniature ramp. Then, using my tail to steady myself, I slid a shiny yellow bread-bag clip down the paper slide, watching it skip cleanly onto the welcome mat.
