Breaching the Perimeter

The windowsill was amazing, but I couldn't stay indoors forever! I scrambled down to the entryway rug, following the draft straight toward the front door. A tall pair of leather sneakers blocked the path like twin watchtowers! Without hesitating, I grabbed the thick white shoelace and gave it a solid tug. Whoa, it uncoiled and dropped into a perfect ramp! I dashed right up the rubber toe cap, planted my boots on the tongue, and peered under the doorway gap. The bright hall light outside spilled across the floor mat. The outside world is officially right beyond this threshold!
