A Tangled Ambush

I stalked across the windowsill toward a clay pot holding a sprawling green ivy. Grrr... its dangling vines tried to block my path, so I grabbed the thickest leafy runner with both paws and gave it an unyielding tug. A dry brown leaf detached and tumbled down like a vanquished foe, but another twining stem snapped around my plush foot. I wrestled it onto the warm wooden ledge, kicking ferociously until I had pinned the unruly vine beneath my belly. Now I sit atop the defeated foliage, watching dust motes drift through the afternoon haze while this wild jungle yields to my weight.
