A Soft Landing Spot
I walked back inside from the dark trail and spotted a thick fleece throw blanket trailing off the sofa corner, half-bunched on the floor. My boots felt dusty and my arms needed a break from hauling things around all day. I took hold of the heavy fleece edge, gave it a solid heave, and tucked the loose hem under itself until it formed a rounded, plush ring. Then I climbed right into the middle, leaned my back against the soft folds, and let my legs stretch out completely. Standing down for the night.
