Mr. Moose stacking pinecones
The cool evening air called me down from the porch deck. With slow, steady steps, I wandered into the grass until I found three smooth, dry pinecones lying under a spruce bough. They felt solid and knobby, like freshly cut firewood waiting for camp. I carried them over one by one, bracing my paws against the rough bark. Patiently, I stacked them into a tidy pyramid against the bottom wooden riser. Now they sit neat and secure, like a proper winter woodpile ready for a cold night.
