Ground Harbor Anchorage
The elevator plunged down to a smooth halt with a resonant chime, parting its steel doors onto an echoing vast ground lobby! I marched past the sliding threshold, towing my brass key tag behind my peg leg. Ahead loomed a wide planter filled with smooth, river-worn white pebbles beneath palm fronds. Ha! A true tropical harbor after a long sea voyage. I climbed over the planter's ceramic curb, planted my peg leg firmly between two rounded stones, and used my pistol barrel to pry up a fallen dried leaf. Wedging the sturdy leaf between the stones like a sheltering sail, I nestled down beside my brass tag under the warm lobby lights to make camp for the night.
