Breeze at the Doorway
I noticed the heavy wooden entrance door wasn't clicked shut, but left open just a tiny sliver! The smell of cold concrete and open stairwells drifted right across the tiled floor, and I knew I couldn't stay inside another minute. Jogging across the cool linoleum, I slipped under the coat rack to peek into the outside world. Just then, a sudden draft began swinging the door outward into the hall. I quickly grabbed an discarded rubber doorstop wedge from against the baseboard and kicked it firmly beneath the bottom edge. Solid thud! Now the gap is locked open, ready for my first outdoor scout.
