A Gentle Sway

Warm morning light poured across the cool vinyl seat beneath my shoes. I felt a tiny jolt in my chest, and when I wiggled my toes, my shoes actually shifted forward. Curious, I lifted one fuzzy hand and reached toward the sunlit metal window frame next to me. The metal was cool, but the bright glass hummed softly with vibration. I planted both feet firmly, leaning slightly into the curve of the seatback, excited to discover I could stand entirely on my own.
