Aromatic Inspection
I popped up from the vegetable crate and marched straight over to the stovetop seasoning tray! Resting next to the salt cellar was a whole dried star anise pod, shaped just like a crisp eight-pointed wooden flower. A holiday turkey needs bold aromatics! Planting my white boots on the cool ceramic tile, I slid the crystal base of my floral staff right beneath one of its dark brown points. With a spirited hoist, the star anise tilted upright and leaned against the ceramic jar like an ornate wooden rosette! It smelled delightfully sweet and spicy, fitting into our turkey squad like a charm!
