Friction Check
That rug was fine for warmups, but carpet has way too much drag. I scoped out the straight shot down the hallway and kicked into gear. The second my sneakers hit the polished wood, traction vanished—pure slick speed. Instead of bailing, I dropped low and leaned right into the slide, carving a sharp powerslide around the corner of the sideboard. My shoe clicked neatly against a loose brass key ring resting by the floorboard, sending it spinning like a little gold coin. First high-speed test run in the books, and not a single scratch.
