A Tap on the Seam
My knees pressed against the dark floorboards. I blinked, and the stiffness in my neck simply gave way. Right in front of me stood a tiny, outlined door shape set into the pale, patterned wall. Without overthinking it, I lifted my right hand. My fingertips actually moved when I told them to. I tapped the edge of the molded frame. It gave a dull, hollow tick under my knuckles. It was solid, shut, and definitely hiding whatever sat on the other side. Perfect.
