A Rolling Thread Spool
I noticed a smooth wooden bobbin standing upright against the baseboard. Wound around its middle was a thick coil of emerald embroidery floss, with one loose tail resting across the wood grain. I pressed my front foot against its curved lip. With a quiet, wooden rattle, it tipped over and rolled in a lazy circle across the floorboards. The glossy thread unwound behind it, laying down a neat green curve that curled softly toward the carpet edge. I tucked my paws in and watched the spool settle quietly against my side.
