A Rolling Ring
A soft thud... my toes landed gently on the woven rug. Beside the table leg rested a small roll of patterned paper tape, hollow and round. I tilted my head... waited, then reached out and gave its rim a soft push. It wobbled, then rolled! A smooth, quiet spin across the polished floorboards, humming until it bumped the wooden baseboard and tipped flat. I crept after it on quiet feet, resting both paws over the cardboard circle. What a pleasant little tumble.
